The Soundside Region is home to 191 manufacturing companies with $900 million in estimated sales. The manufacturing sector is supported by a labor force of over 4,000 manufacturing employees (SIC 20-29) and over 9,500 transportation and communications employees (SIC 40-49.) Here are a few of the companies that call the Soundside region home.
HGI in Tukwila, WA Headquartered in Tukwila, Hartung Glass Industries or HGI is one of the leading glass companies in North America. Founded in 1924, Hartung has sites across North America that offer a wide selection of glasses and glass cutting, fabrication, and heat treatment services.
Greencore Group in Des Moines, WA Greencore, an international convenience, frozen, and private label food manufacturer opened a new manufacturing facility and innovation center in the Des Moines Creek Business Park in 2016. “[The site is] unique for [Greencore] because it will also house an Innovation Center where we’ll conduct most of the research and development work for the US market,” said Richard McGowan, Project Manager for Greencore in a press release announcing the new site.
Rainier Industrial Art in Tukwila, WA Headquartered in Tukwila, Rainier Industrial Art craftsmen create fabric architecture, metal fabrication, and woodworking for clients across many industries. Started in 1896, Rainer is one of the 100 oldest businesses in Washington. You may have seen their work at the entrance to the Seattle Rainer Club, in the artist Gordon Huether’s “Canyon” that runs the length of Salt Lake International Airport, or on multiple decorative Starbucks store pieces throughout Seattle.
