Business Development

Numerous commercial properties are ready for development in Midway, Pacific Ridge, Downtown and in Redondo. The City actively seeks new business investments and supports commercial development.

Pacific Ridge is getting a complete makeover starting with a four-star hotel complex breaking ground in 2013, and a new 87-acre corporate campus in the Des Moines Creek Business Park, just minutes from Sea-Tac Airport. The projects will have fantastic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains or Mount Rainier.  By 2020, more than 3 million square foot of new commercial development and 5,500 new residential units are expected.

Livability

Des Moines offers housing for every income level from waterfront mansions to affordable apartments. And 350 more new residential lots are available for development for a range of affordable homes. The City is the fourth most densely populated city in the state and among the most beautiful and affordable places to live in King County.

The full service Marina, including its popular 670-foot public fishing pier, is next to historic Beach Park, now undergoing major renovation to make it a venue for regional as well as local cultural and recreational activities.

History

Des Moines, a growing city of almost 31,000, is a friendly waterfront community embracing the future while preserving its rich past. Initially homesteaded in 1863 and incorporated in 1959, the City borders the Puget Sound with 6 miles of shoreline and is conveniently located midway between Seattle and Tacoma. It is a perfect place to start a business, live and have fun.
