The Port’s and Burien’s goal, owing to NERA’s proximity to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, is to transition this mixture of vacant, residential, public and small commercial land uses to uses compatible with Sea-Tac International Airport. To help encourage NERA’s development, the Port and City of Burien have cooperated in completing a significant amount of pre-development planning work. This joint work includes an interlocal agreement on land use and cooperation in construction of the first phase of a regional stormwater system that will fully service the NERA.
